Gregory Bassen
Postdoctoral Researcher
Gregory is from Tenafly, NJ, and graduated from Cornell University with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and minors in Philosophy and Creative Writing. He completed his PhD with Professor Tyrel McQueen at Johns Hopkins University, where he focused on the exploratory synthesis and design of superconductors. Outside of lab, he enjoys writing music and studying alchemy.
Cecilia MacHiko Wheeler
PhD Candidate
Cecilia is from Connecticut and graduated from Smith College with a B.A. in Chemistry. Her current research focuses on ferromagnets for magnetocaloric applications.
Keke Lu (Coco)
PhD Candidate
Coco (可可) is from Shenzhen and received her B.S. in Chemistry with minors in Computer Science and Data Science from George Washington University. Her current research centers on unconventional superconductors. Outside of lab, she enjoys taking naps.
Michael McHale
PhD Candidate
Michael is from Leesburg, Va. He got his bachelor's degree from Virginia Tech in 2020 in Nanoscience and Chemistry. Afterwards he moved to Boston where he worked in research and development, focusing on materials and solid-state batteries. His current research focuses on structural analysis and inorganic chemistry of solid materials. When not working he enjoys hiking, games, and cooking.
Christopher Joy Stephen
PhD Candidate
Chris is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Temple University with a B.S. in Chemistry. His research currently focuses on ferroelectric 2D Van der Waals materials. When not in the lab, he enjoys working out, basketball, and watching movies with friends.
Lexi Wise

Lexi is from Columbia, MD and received her B.S in Chemistry from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in 2025. Outside of the lab, she enjoys the arts; whether that's painting, drawing, or music.
